The Amazon rainforest has been on fire over the summer, due to the widespread high temperatures and the limited rainfall in recent weeks. The United Nations has offered funding of over $21 million to Brazil to support the relief effort. This was rejected. How do you feel about the fire? What impact do you think it might have?

I think this is a terrible situation facing the Amazon rainforest. We rely massively on the vegetation in this area, supplying us with resources but also a variety of biodiveristy. It could lead to extinction and a serious threat to climate change, where large quantities of carbon dioxide may be released from the burning wood. It is incredibly sad to see.

I think that the burning of the amazon rainforest is terrible not only is it killing over 265 animals but it is burning trees and trees give us oxygen that is why were alive. I dont know who would do such a thing if this does not stop more animals will die and trees will burn so then we might DIE .

I think it is terrible that this is happening because the Amazon rainforest supplies 25% of our oxygen. It is also home to a variety of animals that you can’t find anywhere else in the world ,there is also a small population of humans living within the Amazon rainforest that are being forced out of their homes.

I think that the rainforest fires are effecting many animals lives,as when a fire happens it destroys their homes and causes them them to leave and then occours the trouble of them finding a new place to live. There is also the problem that 25% of our oxygen comes from the amazon rainforest.Overall this problem needs to be fixed!

It is truly devastating what is happening in the Amazon rainforest. We rely so much on the rainforest as it supplies 25% of the worlds oxygen and it gives many fruits, therefore it really is essential to the world. And yet some people still want to cut it down just for the palm oil. As a result, many animals are suffering and even dying. I do believe that we need palm oil but I think we should use sustainable amounts of it. Some industries also think the same and are using sustainable amounts of palm oil, such as Iceland. I strongly believe that this is the direction other industries should take, as it would really pay off and save the world around us.

I think that it is disgusting how evil one can be to cause endangerment of multiple creatures of the rain forest, yeah they get payed good money but there is no price of killing innocent animals but guilt all for palm oil AN OIL THAT ISN'T THAT HEALTHY FOR THE HUMAN BODY. Overall I think that everyone needs to urgently stop cutting down trees we probably have chopped down different cures for illnesses for oil

The Rainforest fire is effecting many animals lives and causing them to leave their homes and natural life. Also many animals have perished in the fire which is causing extinction of animals. A lot of our oxygen has come from the Rainforest and with it being destroyed it is causing us to loose oxygen. The Rainforest is important because it homes many animals, gives oxygen and provides fruit and vegetables. This is something that needs to stop if we want to live happy lives and help this world go on and no more extinction of animals.

I think it is terrible how the amazon is being cut and burnt down for many reasons, as it holds 20% of the whole earth's oxygen. This could lead to many animals going extinct and global warming getting worse..

It is completely disgusting how people can do this to our environment it is a major problem that needs to be fixed there are so many animals that will soon be endangered if this carries on its the same with palm oil many animals will soon become extinct if it carries on. It needs to stop.

It fills me with pity to see a famous landmark, that is home to over 265 endangered species be at immense danger in the past month. Due to it being on fire, the loss of trees and vegetation can cause climate change, fewer crops, flooding and desertification. It can also increase greenhouse gases in the atmosphere like carbon dioxide and many other greenhouse chemicals, these act like a blanket and stop infrared radiation from travelling to outer space, this is a process known as global warming. The human need for palm oil is reasonable as it provides us with products like soap, chocolate, bread, make-up and many more products we use everyday day! I believe we should try to use other natural oils rather than palm oil, and do school activities to help prevent global warming as it is a significant effect on the world at the moment. We need to try our best to save the ‘lungs of the planet’.

I think its disgusting the way people think its okay to set animals homes[habitats] on fire. We are loosing animals and many important sources in the rain forest due to this, there is a higher risk of many more animals and [or] creatures becoming extinct. It is selfish and cruel for people.

I think that the burning in the amazon rainforest is disastrous and is harming not only animals but humans oxygen sources. The burning fires in the rainforest can be caused by global warming which is another large problem. the fires in the rainforest are destroying animals species as we know them. overall I think the fires in the rainforest are awful and should be stopped as soon as possible

I think it is terrible what is happening to the amazon rainforest. All of the animals are loosing their habitats. If this tragic event carries on for even longer all of the animals living there could become extinct. There is many reasons on how this was caused, one of them was it was caused by dry weather and heat and another reason is that it was caused by human. However it was caused it is a tragic event and I hope it stops soon.

I think it is terrible to know that the Amazon rainforest has been on fire because there is over 1000 animals living there whose homes could possibly have been destroyed or even the animals themselves could have been killed. With trees and rainforests being burned down, they release tree carbon matter in the form of CO2 which pollutes the atmosphere.

I think it is terrible that the Amazon Rainforest is on fire because it kills thousands of animals including sea creatures. Another problem is that humans need that oxygen to survive so it can’t be explored so no-one knows if any species of animals are gone

I think it is terrible because animals habitats are being destroyed and we are loosing animals that could become extinct. It is also a problem because we don’t know if any animals have recently become extinct because of this fire. As well as that it holds 20% of the worlds oxygen which important to both humans and animals. In conclusion this needs to stop before it gets worse.

I think its terrible how this is happening the amount of animals that are losing there habitat is to much. some of these animals could become extinct the rainforest is being destroyed. It holds up to 20-30 percent of our oxygen. some of the plants could also be burnt down and then we cant get them back

I think this is outrageous because there lots of animal species that can only be found there and are close to extinction due to the falling amount of numbers and loss of habitat. The rainforest itself is home to a small amount of people who have already had to evacuate their homes.

I think it is devastating that this is happening to the Amazon rainforest and we don’t just need to look after the Amazon we need to to the whole world, soon it will be happening somewhere near us locally. An another problem is because it’s not near them they don’t care.

I think that it is an absolute disaster that the Amazon rain forest is burning down, this shows how much impact global warming is having on the world. The fact that something that has lasted here for thousands of years is crumbling apart and destroying habitats of fascinating species of animals and plants is devastating.

I think that this is a terrible time for the earth, due to the fact many animals are dying and some of them we haven't even discovered yet. There are also a lot of tribes, who live in the amazon rainforest, and this could affect them badly. The fire is also not helping with global warming and could destroy the 'lungs of the earth.' It is called this because the amazon provides 20% of the earths oxygen.

It's absolutely terrible how gradually over time more and more animals are perishing in the fires. It's horrible thinking that RIGHT NOW while we are calm and safe at home many animals are dying and left with no safe home. We need to act in some sort of way to protect the animals and the environment.

The Amazon Rainforest captures up to 25% off global carbon dioxide.Without this the concentration of increased carbon dioxide would contribute towards global warming this would have a devastating impact on the earth. The other major problem is that there are thousands of species of plants and animals that will be affected by the fires.Infact many of these species will be lost forever.

I feel we did the best and right thing donating money to assist in stopping the Forrest fires. However, I feel like we should of acted sooner. It is my belief that we will pay for not acting the moment the problem occurred, My reasons for thees beliefs are:pollution, air pressures, and that we may of killed or very badly angered many animals.

I think that not enough people in the world do not realise the importance of the rain forest and to many people see the rain forest as a way of making money. The rain forest produces 20% of the worlds oxygen and with more and more of it burning down there will be less and less oxygen for and humans, plants and animals. I feel that people should be educated more on the future impact of what they are doing to the rain forest. More funding is desperately needed...

I think the fire has dangered many animals and their habitats I also think its cruel one could do that to a rainforest! People think of it to make money which it's very rude as it was a place were animals were safe and there habitats many people studied the wonders of it.
